Fall Cleaning

It's that time of year again! You are probably wondering when you'll fit this cleaning into your schedule. I know many of you are homeschooling, so the thought of it may overwhelm you. I have always considered caring for our home a valuable lesson for my children. It's called, "Being a good steward of what God has given to you."

Plan to take a few days off from the book learning and focus on good stewardship. Divvy-up the cleaning tasks among the children on a piece of paper. Be certain that the list is fair, and some children don't get the brunt of the work. Assign the tasks, turn on some good praise music, and get started. Reward them with an easy yummy lunch on the days they work.

The following is a list of things you may consider doing:
  • Clean the inside and outside of windows
  • Vacuum and wipe window sills
  • Wash your blinds
  • Work on stains in your carpeting and furniture
  • Clean your ceiling fan and change the direction of the fan blade.
  • Clean and protect your wooden floors
  • Clean out the refrigerator
  • Deep clean carpet and rugs
  • Clean your curtains
  • Clean your dusty houseplants
  • Move furniture around and change your wall decorations
  • Machine wash shower curtain
  • Clean lampshades
Tools:
  • Plastic bags (to organize what-nots), trash bags
  • Magic Eraser
  • Bon Ami cleanser
