Vermicomposting: The Worm Tower


Vermiculture is a composting method using earthworms to speed up the process. It is used by many in interested in Permaculture. By adding a wealth of nitrogen rich organic material, these special worms grow to a larger size and create more castings used for fertilizer. The following method is just one way in which this can be achieved.

It's 5" pvc that is about 18" long (or longer), with 1/2" holes. The worms most often used, Eisenia foetida (Red Wigglers), are about 4 inches long, mainly red along the body with a yellow tail.


Sounds like an awesome idea!
