The Spirit of a Marriage - Part 1

When a husband humbles himself by acknowledging that he was wrong and asks the Lord and his wife to forgive him, the offense should be forgotten. The lessons that grew out of the failure, however, should be learned and remembered. It is a wise and skillful wife who can bring these to her husband's mind without communicating the spirit of "don't forget how you failed in the past."

Often just a cautious nod will bring to the husband's mind the lessons learned. Sometimes there is a need for her to ask if they could spend time praying about an idea or decision. Still another way she can help is to ask what the results will be from this decision in areas that the husband may not have considered.

A wife can assist her husband to avoid failures by encouraging and supporting him in memorizing and meditating on the Scripture and carrying out Wisdom Searches in Psalms and Proverbs.

One of the most destructive ways a wife can damage the spirit of her marriage is to correct her husband in public.
