Cleaning Your Front Loader

(YouTube link)

After trying to solve the problem of having a clogged dispenser drawer on my front loader, I learned that you're supposed to routinely clean it. What a surprise that unveiled! It made the dispenser drawer in this video look like it just came from the factory.

While viewing the other videos available, you should also know:
  1. Not all washers have a button to release the drawer. Gently persuade the drawer out, and make sure you have a towel on the floor. If you haven't cleaned it in years, you're going to see something quite unexpected.
  2. The dispenser drawer is not dishwasher safe.
  3. After cleaning the drawer, you can place 1 cup of white vinegar into the dispenser drawer, followed by very hot water. Then run your washer with hot water on the short cycle. This will dislodge any hardened powder detergent, lime buildup, and clean the washer interior from soap buildup. Notice the bubbles during the wash cycle. Interesting stuff!
  4. You may want to wait until you run the vinegar solution prior to cleaning the door rubber. The vinegar will help soften it.
Good luck!
